Center $$$ to $$$$|
John Henline -
Valley Center, San Diego County
and Paradise Mountain, Life in Valley Center has a rural feeling yet it so close to all conveniences,
located 50 minutes from downtown San Diego and just five miles northeast of Escondido.
Also about 25 mi NE of Rancho Santa Fe. It is a Horse Community of about 21,000 residents and is
one of San Diego county's best kept secret.
Residents tell us once they moved here they would never live anywhere else. Most homes come with
a minimum of two acres, making it a very horse friendly place. Daley Ranch and Hellhole Canyon are the two
hiking/riding preserves. Daley Ranch is on the southwest side of town and Hellhole Canyon is on the east side. In
spring residents pick lavender at the lavender garden.
Valley Center is just completing an 18 hole golf course with new homes being built on it now.
The first nine holes are already open. There is also a newly completed $4,000,000 library and history museum. There
is Harrah's up-scale casino which has six restaurants. Temecula wine country is about 30 minutes to the north.
With an elevation of 1300 feet and land area of about 30 square miles, Valley Center, for almost
a hundred years has been composed of avocado and citrus farms, ranches and riding and hiking trails. For these very
reasons, more and more people are finding their way to this desirable area.
Today, properties are about 2 acres of land for the most part, guaranteeing a rural feel.
Because many young families are relocating here and commuting to work the school district is growing with courses
focused on science, math, and technology with ample sports and activities offered throughout the community and
schools. Residents enjoy water sports and fishing in the two area lakes along with horseback riding. There is also
a full-sized farm in Valley Center offering fresh local produce, and the Indian Reservation offers local color.
